Wow, it’s been a while. Quite a lot has happened over the past 13 or so years. Humanity collectively abandoned blogging for the appeal of “microblogging” on social media platforms that ended up caring more about shoveling content at us at such a rapid pace that our attention spans were just absolutely thrashed to death. Yeah, turns out that social media is really really bad for you. Like, it actually kills people bad for you. Add the enshitification of the internet and AI slop, and it’s like there really isn’t much of a reason to stay online.
But here I am, still online and back on a platform that everyone abandoned at least a decade ago. But I have a plan. I have a plan to de-shitify my brain and my habits and hopefully save my sanity. I don’t know if this is going to last, but I know that this blog is at the very least an important stepping stone. I would like to invite you, whoever it is that happens to read this, to join me in trying to claw back my sanity.
The first step I am taking is to jettison my socials in favor of making periodic blog posts. A more thoughtful and hopefully thought-provoking medium. The idea is to regain my attention span. I also want to do away with the feeling that anything I create is content that has to “perform”. I have a lot more to say about the creative industries, particularly how tech CEOs seem to view The Work, but that can wait until my next blog post. Until then, take care. Be kind to each other. Do no harm, but take no shit.
