I hit a point a couple of weeks ago where I just didn’t know how to proceed with this. I decided to take a week off, but the next week it was the same thing — I just did not know what was next. I didn’t want to just give up. That is the easy road that I have taken too many times. So I took another week to figure out what exactly I am doing here. Surely this project is not just something that came about as a result of nostalgic urge? Well, I actually made a plan. My mother is simultaneously shocked and proud.
I’m hoping to update this once a week. I haven’t landed on a day yet but I am leaning towards mid-week. I will be writing mostly about the things I know more than a few fun facts about: beer from both a cultural and industry perspective, music from both a cultural and industry perspective, graphic design and typography from every perspective possible, tabletop gaming (you know, D&D and other games that enable a dice hoarding habit), forestry and conservation, the sociopolitical aspects of all of these things, and forklifts.
Maybe not forklifts.
But maybe forklifts. I am certified, after all.
Don’t be frightened by the word “sociopolitical”. I know we’re all trying to just cope with what is going on in these exhausting and bewildering days. I am not interested in partisan politics, nor armchair political theory. Instead, I will be putting my energy towards examining how things relate to us working class folks. As I have mentioned previously, I am done with doomscrolling. I would much rather make this world a nicer place, despite all of the horrors. I will also do a bit of extemporizing about how we can make life better for ourselves, in my own opinion of course. But mostly I’m going to be talking about dice and trees and beer and fonts. And about how I am forklift certified. So come along with the ride. Bookmark this if you are old-school. Or you can subscribe via email. I promise it will be fun. I also promise to change these blog colors because omg what was I thinking…
